A true classic that changed the world with an affordable, reliable sports convertible. It’s become the world’s bestselling two door convertible with well over one million sold worldwide.
The Mazda MX-5 (NA) (sold in Japan as the Eunos Roadster and in North America as the Mazda MX-5 Miata) is the first generation of the Mazda MX-5 manufactured from 1989 to 1997. Inspired by the post-war era British sports cars, the MX-5 rejuvenated interest in roadsters after the demise of cars such as the MG B and Triumph Spitfire. Since its debut, the MX-5 has won numerous automotive awards and has become the world’s bestselling sports car.
After years of successful production, the first major upgrade to these roadsters were the improved NB models (which can be distinguished from earlier NA models by their faired headlights amongst other improvements and refinements).
Jeremy Clarkson (originally from the BBC’s Top Gear) highly regards the Mazda too. See his opinion of the MX5 on YouTube.
